CAESAR - 2months old

My first puppy in my marriage life. His name - Caesar, bought the puppy on last year 14 December, 2013 together with my hubby. We decided to get a Shetland Sheepdog breed Sable color, preferably male dog. And we went to the pets station and walked around the shop, the staff named 'Lance' came to us asking what breeds are we looking for? Then, we told him, we were looking a male Shetland Sheepdog. And he introduced us a Blue Merle Shetland Sheepdog about 7-8 months and we can brought the Blue Merle home immediately & give him a toilet train and also he can go to the dog parks anytime we like, but our minds was thinking to have a puppy about 2-3 months cause we decided to grow up together with the puppy and lived together.

We do know that it's not very easy to take care a puppy but we believed that we can take care well of the puppy and give him a happy life. And this puppy will be the first puppy coming into our life (me & my hubby).

Thereafter Lance brought us a Tri-Color Shetland Sheepdog male, as my hubby is looking for a Sable color, but for me what color is not important, as long as was Shetland Sheepdog I will be very happy. When Lance brought us a 2-months old Tri-Color male Shetland Sheepdog to us, our first encounter with Caesar =) *blush* he was so shy, and his head very big - everyone was calling him "big head, big head", Lance gave me to hug him and he very soft & stick to me like my baby. I fallen in love with this boy when i first saw him. Here's his picture,

My hubby also like him very much and we decided to get him although he was not Sable color. but we couldn't brought him home as he still small and need to be at the pet shop for 2 weeks for him to familiarize with the environment then he only can follow us home. Moreover, our home still under renovation so we let him board at the Pets Station until our new home is ready to move in.

In these 2 weeks & the boarding time until 19 Jan 2014, we often go to Pet Station to visit our puppy & take photos to keep as a souvenir. And also I very miss him during these 2 weeks, so have to go there everyday to hug & play with him.

19 January 2014, finally! We can bring him home and he already 3 months old puppy. We waited for so long. Before we bring him home from the pet stations, Lance asked us to bring him to the Vet for an initial body check-up to confirm he is a healthy puppy before we brought him home. At our minds was thinking if the DR. said he's not healthy, we still want to bring him home cause we like him very much or maybe spend some money to treat him well until recover. At the Vet, the DR said our puppy very cute and he's very healthy don't have any problems & advice us the first night he at our home he'll be barking or crying sounds cause he's not familiar with us and the places. It takes time for him to adapt to his new environment.

After visiting the Vet, we told Lance everything was OK & good. DR. said he's very healthy and we gonna bring him home now. At new home, we already prepared a small space specially for him. So, at the pets station we just have to buy the cage, the play pan, the toys, the bowl, the pee tray, the food, the brush and the medicine and etc... And we bought the baby door gate at the baby shop.

CAESAR - 5 months old grow Diary

22 March 2014, Caesar 5 months old, his best buddy, Smokey, we brought him to the dog run at the Pet Movers and look at them, they love to play jump and Smokey was very cute. These were the pictures I took when they're jumping around at the dog run.

After the dog run, Caesar was tired and he fall asleep inside the car.

Nowadays, Caesar loves to eat Banana. When we said, "Banana~~~" he will come over to us and sit in front of us lick his mouth to show us that he wants to eat Banana. IF no more Banana, he will showing us this kind of face. It's super funny.

We bought banana to him, and he was super happy when I prepared for him.

Special dessert made for him. Although was not his favorite but he still ate all. Strawberry, Apples, Yogurt and Honey.

In the evening time, I brought him to walk. He's so happy.

29 March 2014, bought a bow tie for him. He looks handsome with his new bow tie and suppppppeerrr Handsome. ♥♥♥

What is CAESAR doing when he 3 - 4 months old?

After Caesar knows where to pee & poo at the pee tray, we start to teach him the command of " Sit ", "Stay", "Wait", "OK" which applies to his feeding method.

From the beginning, we feed him three times per day (morning 7 a.m, afternoon 3 p.m and dinner 7 p.m). The morning one is OK but until afternoon, we used the automatic pets food feeding to feed him, he will poo after having his food and then poo within an hour, and before we come home he will eat the poo on the floor. *headache*

After several occasion, we noticed that Caesar loves a clean environment, so once he poo at the pee tray he will not go to the pee tray to pee but he will pee at another place, he'll eat his own poo because as a puppy, his digestive system is not fully build yet, thus not all the food being digested and those undigested ones will be release in his poo, thus his poo contains the smell of his food so he will eat and doesn't know that's poo. So, we decided to change his food feeding from twice per days instead of three times per days. In the afternoon, we feed him dessert like cake, banana or apple. *cake is bought from pet shop*

We told our friends that our puppy will eat his poo, she borrows us a product called S.E.P, which is a powder form, smell like mint flavor and use to add a teaspoon onto his food for him to eat. This product will make his poo become bitter thus dogs dislike that kind of smell and won't eat it. We used it from mid February till now and so far so good, it's really work for Caesar. So far until now we didn't see him eat his poo again and leave it there but we don't know what'll going happen if we leave his poo for few hours? would he eat? we don't know but what we know is that he will not touch his poo for about an hour or two, he just leave it there, however we unsure if he will eat it if left unclean for hours.

How do we train Caesar the command of "Sit", "Stay", "Wait" and "OK"?
Caesar is very good boy and we don't really spend a lot of time to train him hard. When he sees us holding his food he will automatically sit and we just give him a "sit" command. Then after we put down his food on the floor, of cause he will go and eat when we put it down, so what we do? we take away his food and give him "sit" command, then "stay" command - using hand, then ask him to "wait" command, and when we give him "OK" command, we push him to the food, so he knows that "OK" is mean you can eat now...

This is how we train him the 4 commands.

After he get used to the 4 commands, we start to leash him at home. Let him to familiar with the leash so that we can bring him out to the park. Of cause he struggle and hate the leash until now he still don't like the leash. Nowadays, we put on the leash on his body just let him familiar himself with it, and then after we only bring him out once he cool down. We brought him to the dog park near our house. It's he first time to go outside at the park and also is our first time to bring a puppy to the park too. We were worry and thinking what is he action the first time outing and will he scared? or will he just haul?

No hauling but just scared... but we still ask him to walk and encourage him with a treat.. so he walks until tired we find a place to sit. These are the pictures we took him..

We rest about half an hour, he likes getting used to it. And finally he lets me taking his picture with a side face big smile and the sitting position with his handsome face.

The below pictures taken when he is 4 months old, we bring him to East Coast Park beach side. The first time he went to the beach. Look at him, he had so much fun at the beach but he also scared the sound of wave hitting on the shores, he don't dare to go near to the sea, so he just play on the sand.
